Kansas City Chapter History<\/h1>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1749998014020{margin-top: 20px !important;}”]The Kansas City Chapter began as an interim chapter in 1988. In 1995, at the National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts, the founding members successfully petitioned for the chapter to receive full chapter status, with all associated voting rights.<\/p>\n

In the first year of the chapter\u2019s full status the chapter flourished by creating a series of first; the first chapter to establish a 800 listing; the first Institutional Sponsorship Program with at the University of Missouri \u2013 Kansas City Bloch School of Business; the first Mentor Development Program was created; the first Emmanuel Cleaver, II, Leadership Award for Economic and Community Development was given to current United States Representative of Missouri, Emmanuel Cleaver.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″ background_position_desktop=”right top” background_position_tablet=”right bottom” background_style_tablet=”no-repeat”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” equal_height=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1749783550858{margin-top: 30px !important;margin-bottom: 40px !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1748497323952{background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}”][vc_column_text css=””]The Kansas City Chapter of the National Black MBA Association\u00ae was recognized as Chapter of the Year in 1996 under the leadership of Dr. Mozella Jenkins (Dyer). It is the first chapter that has been recognized in its first year as a full status chapter. The Chapter was recognized with this prestigious Award again in 2003 under the leadership of Fred Phillips.<\/p>\n

As we look forward in 2020-2022 term, our continued goal is to collaborate with groups and organizations that will convert past and current barriers into future opportunities. Whether you are a potential or new business, current student or recently graduated, seasoned professional, entrepreneur, corporate partner, public or civic leader, we want to engage you in being agents of change within the community that we serve.<\/p>\n
